Lindsay (she/her) is a clinical social worker in private practice and advanced teacher of therapeutic yoga. As a yoga teacher, she has a very grounded and authentic style that facilitates a unified and embodied practice. She holds brave space for exploring sensations with curiosity, courage, and compassion. Her classes focus on the practice of leaning into, living in, and learning from the inherent wisdom of the body. With practice and training in self compassion and mindfulness meditation (vipassana), she encourages students to notice and relate with the sensations in their bodies, rather than focusing on the external alignment of the pose or shape. Lindsay strives to be intersectional and inclusive in all of her classes*.
Lindsay first began teaching yoga and mindfulness in 2008 after receiving her initial teacher training in the foundational practices of Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga. She completed her 500-hour therapeutic yoga teacher training from Integrative Yoga Therapy through Kripalu in 2018. Through her yoga therapy program, Lindsay was mentored by Genevieve Yellin, a trauma-informed yoga therapist and creator of Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy. Lindsay’s trauma education history includes her graduate social work training, Street Yoga’s Yoga for Youth training in April 2016, and The Trauma Center for Trauma Sensitive Yoga’s training in October 2017. She is the owner of Compassionate BodyMind, LLC offering trauma-informed and mindfulness-based integrative psychotherapy and yoga therapy services to adolescents, young adults, women and gender diverse individuals.
*She does her best to be accessible to a range of abilities, but given that this is a group class, that is not always possible. You can check with her beforehand on email (firstname.lastname@example.org) to see if this class might fit your needs.
