Katie Kirby, MSW, LCSW (she/her)

Psychotherapist, Somatic Experiencing Student (Beginning Year)

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who works with adolescents and adults living in Illinois and Missouri. The majority of my practice focuses on supporting individuals who are feeling overwhelmed by chronic illness or relationship challenges. I also frequently work with people struggling with trauma, grief, life transitions, mild to moderate depression, anxiety, and stress.

I provide trauma-informed, culture-centered and strengths-based therapy. I believe these perspectives are key for providing an empowering, de-shaming, non-pathologizing therapy experience. I am also currently in the Somatic Experiencing Professional Training Program. With Somatic Experiencing and an extensive knowledge of polyvagal theory, I help clients befriend their nervous system to increase their ability to self-regulate.

As Dr. Judith Jordan, one of the founding scholars of Relational-Cultural Theory, so eloquently puts it, we are “listened into voice.” Without a listener, we cannot fully embody our own voice, our own story. In our society, many people are deprived of their voice and their full humanity, or questioned and doubted for naming their lived experiences. I am here to listen and support each individual in embodying their voice more deeply and boldly.

Like any relationship, it is important to find someone with whom you feel comfortable and can trust. I would love to talk with you further about any questions you might have about me or my practice. Call or message me today with your questions or to set up an appointment.
