Courtney Scavotto, MSW, LCSW (she/her)

Therapist at Empowered Therapy, LLC

Courtney Vallade Scavotto is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience working with adolescents and families in a diverse school setting. After receiving her MSW from Washington University in St. Louis, Courtney went to work onsite at a middle school, where she regularly served adolescents with many different personalities, needs, and challenges. In that environment, Courtney developed a passion for helping adolescents enjoy and thrive in school by managing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, issues at home, relationship conflict, and learning disabilities.

Courtney believes strongly that managing life’s challenges requires a dedicated support system. Supportive relationships are essential —they require trust, comfort, and commitment. With that in mind, Courtney creates a respectful, judgment-free environment for sharing stories and discussing sensitive issues.

Courtney knows that the ability to build rapport and trust is one of the most important aspects of her role. Courtney does this by listening intently and empathically. She believes that everyone has a unique voice, perspective, and backstory and that everyone’s story matters.

With that in mind, Courtney emphasizes self-reflection—not only to drive self-appreciation, but to think about one’s approach to relationships, work, community, and how our own unique perspectives, needs, and behaviors can inform our approach to others.

Courtney knows how to ask the right questions and help clients recognize and use their strengths to develop the personal skills needed to resolves issues, e.g., emotional regulation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

Courtney is committed to advocating for her clients and empowering them with skills and confidence to advocate for themselves. While we cannot change others, we all have the power to appreciate, to speak, and to stand up for ourselves.
