BELIEVE IN YOU:

BE EMPOWERED, BE YOURSELF

An empowering vinyasa practice for self-confidence

Saturday, February 24th

Led by Blanca Perez (she/her)

Join Blanca for an empowering and rejuvenating vinyasa flow practice designed to release tension and tap into your inner strength.

Often, the demands of daily life, societal expectations, and the constant rush can stifle the powerful energy within us. In this vinyasa flow, you'll have the chance to break free from those constraints holding you back. Embrace the freedom to breathe and move in a way that suits you, recognizing that each person's practice can manifest uniquely.

The hope for this practice is to be as comforting, empowering and of ease as possible, aimed at fostering a positive relationship with your body.

Treat your body as your ally, establishing a profound mind-body connection through intentional breath and movement.

Begin the practice by setting your intentions, with the option to write down ideas for a more personalized experience. Blanca then will guide you through a mindful and invigorating practice with the intention for it to resonate with your individual needs. There will always be an invitation to move at your own pace, or rest as needed. You will be the owner of your body and breath during the whole practice, shedding the internal dialogue, and allowing yourself to let go.

We will conclude the session with savasana, and following that there will be the invitation to take a moment to reflect and share your thoughts on the practice and the intentions you initially set.

Blanca is open to initiating conversations and addressing any questions you may have. However, if you prefer to exit after the practice and skip this part, feel free to do so. Your well-being is the priority, and this session is crafted to cater to your comfort and needs.

Everyone is welcome and invited, regardless of background or experience levels. Prior yoga experience would potentially be helpful when moving through poses, but there will always be guidance for those less familiar with the yoga practice. Numerous variations will be provided to cater to diverse states of mind and energy levels. In this guided practice, there will be instances where there will be the invitation to synchronize breath and movement together, and other moments where you're encouraged to listen to your body, move at your own pace, or take a rest if desired. The session is designed to accommodate everyone's unique needs and preferences.

Yoga mats and props will be available for you (blocks, blankets, bolsters), but feel free to bring anything that makes your practice more personal and comfortable. A little notebook and a pen for our journaling part of the practice is recommended.

Class will be limited to 10-12 participants

Empowered Spaces and Blanca Perez value community care. Given the systemic injustice in this world which affects each of us differently, this equity pricing scale acknowledges that our ability to pay for services, and access to those services, varies. Community rate -”I can use support from my community” - $15

Sustainer rate - “ I can pay my way” - $25

Meet Blanca

Yoga instructor, Neuroscientist, Pharmacology PhD, Mental Health Advocate

Blanca tried her first yoga class in her twenties, while working on her PhD and going through a lot of psychological and physical stress. She knew nothing about it and was quite skeptical of what she would get from it. As many people do when they try it, she saw it just as a physical practice. She would have never imagined that later on, her yoga practice would become the healer of her deepest emotional and physical struggles.

She moved from Spain to the US to pursue her postdoctoral research career in neuroscience in early 2020. Going through the COVID-19 pandemic alone and in a different country definitely had an effect on her life. Reflecting on it nowadays, she absolutely believes her yoga practice saved her life. It was then when she decided to deepen her practice and become a yoga instructor. She got her 200H Yoga Teacher Training at Urban Breath Yoga in St. Louis (MO) in early 2022, in addition to trauma- and eating disorder-informed training, and she has been teaching at the studio and on her own since then.

Blanca strongly believes yoga is for everybody; no matter the age, shape or fitness skills, and she is very passionate about bringing all the benefits of the yoga practice (mental, emotional and physical), to all individuals, but especially those that struggle with mental health and trauma. Her goal is to transmit all the healing yoga provided to her to all individuals that are battling similar situations as she was.

Her favorite yoga styles are vinyasa and hatha, and especially strong vinyasa-style practices, but always prioritizing self-care and kindness to ourselves. In her classes, she emphasizes linking breath to movement, making the practice become a tool to reconnect with your own body and align physical, emotional and mental energies. After her classes, you will feel strong, empowered and rejuvenated. She believes that the lessons we learn and the experiences we go through on the mat, can teach us how to live our lives better off the mat and become a better version of ourselves.
