Your Empowered Birth
Saturday, April 26, 2024, 1- 5 pm
Led by Dr. Savannah Carlson, PT, DPT, RYT-200, Pelvic Health Physical Therapist (she/her)
Learn how to use the tools of yoga to empower your birth experience so that you feel at ease and in control from the first contraction to the first time you hold your little one in your arms. This workshop will teach you to use the power of the breath, the mind, and the body to prepare for birth. You’ll also learn how to use these strategies to carry you through your unique birth experience with a sense of agency and peace—no matter what kind of delivery you have. Finally, you’ll gain practical skills to help you practice and prepare for pushing so that you can reduce tearing and have a smooth delivery.
This workshop will include…
Education on the pelvic floor and pushing mechanics
Guided breathing and visualization exercises
Guided movement practices for birth preparation
Guided push practice in a variety of positions
Instruction on perineal massage
Guided development of birth affirmations
This workshop is appropriate for pregnant individuals in any trimester who are anticipating a vaginal delivery.
Comfortable clothing is recommended. Feel free to bring your own floor mat to use during the movement portion, but know that free mats are available for your use in the studio.
Fifty percent of the proceeds from this workshop will go to the Rhea Community Fund, which provides financial assistance to individuals seeking pelvic floor physical therapy for themselves or their children. Thank you for your support!

Meet Savannah
Yoga Instructor, Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist, Pelvic Health Advocate
Dr. Savannah Carlson is a pelvic health physical therapist and yoga instructor who gave birth to her first child last June. She prepared for months using the practices of yoga and Hypno Birthing so that she could have an empowered birth experience. When baby finally decided to make her appearance, Savannah relied on movement, mindfulness, and her breath (and her support team!) to help her have a vaginal delivery without the use of an epidural. Her experience was so transformative that she felt moved to share what she learned and practiced with other expecting individuals so that they can experience birth in a way that is empowering, peaceful, and safe.
